Current Products
The existing suite of products includes:
- A Digital map of Upper Lithospheric Domains (ULDs) depicting the architecture and history of the sub-continental lithospheric mantle (SCLM) at a nominal sub-crustal depth of about 80-100 km. The boundaries of these domains are the primary architecture of the lithosphere and are often the key conduits for mantle melts and fluids
- Digital maps of cratonic outlines at more than 40 different times throughout the past 3 billion years
- Crustal Tectonic Terrane maps for each continent or region
- Digital map of subduction zones through time, from the Late Archean to Cenozoic
- Literature reviews of the crustal terranes studied, describing the geology and history of each
- Digital maps of global seismic tomography, specially adapted for lithospheric mapping
- Unpublished geochronology data from most continents
- Geodynamic summary presentations of key regions
- Concepts, criteria and inputs for minerals exploration targeting and ranking (see Workshops)
Developing & Future Products
Products either currently in limited release, development or planned include:
- Mantle Fertility maps, depicting zones of mantle lithosphere most likely to have undergone metasomatism and metal enrichment
- Translithospheric fault map. These structures are the secondary fracture array that is pervasively developed in the continental lithosphere, and can provide important conduits for mantle melts and fluids
Workshops
A key part of the Lithosphere Discovery Package is an introductory 2 day workshop. This workshop covers:
-
Concepts
- Planetary-scale
- Lithosphere-scale
- Product familiarization
- Ore systems & Genetic models
- Application of the Products to minerals exploration
- Case studies
MTI facilitates minerals exploration project generation workshops for sub-license holders.
